Poetry Class 2026

We will all create our own work trying to eliminate cliché (my heart is breaking, love is a battlefield, I'm drowning in tears) and forced rhymes. That is, we will not allow ourselves to insert a rhyme merely because we need one; we will not be forced by habit to let rhyme dictate the meaning. We will work making writing that is strange, precise and inevitable. We will create poetry that the reader/listener can really see.

• Will it be tough? Challenging perhaps.
• Will it be fun? Of course.
• Will it be rewarding. Guaranteed. Or you get your money back.

The workshop is free by the way and limited to 14 people.

The session is run by Kevin Dyer, writer of poems and workshop leader. Guest appearance by performer Katy Haywood who will kick the session off with two of the very best poems ever.

Trojan Horse! One of the most famous stories from Ancient Greek mythology, it is closely linked to Homer's Odyssey, the epic poem that follows Odysseus on his long journey home after the Trojan War. 

The story has recently found a new audience through Christopher Nolan's blockbuster film The Odyssey, which has become the highest-grossing film of his career, earning over $1.1 billion worldwide.
