Chester Lane Library

  • Large Car Park at the front of the building with disabled bays close to the library.
  • One accessible toilet with changing facilities.
  • Access to all area's in the library clearly marked and space for wheelchair access and pram access.

  • Entrance is on the level and wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs/scooters. Fire exits at the side of the library have ramps with rails.
  • No disabled parking availible.
  • One public toilet which has a baby changing unit.
  • The shelving is well spaced allowing easy access for all

  • Two designated disabled spaces and other customer parking spaces available.
  • There is one accessible toilet with a baby changing facilities - this is a radar key operated restroom.
  • Space between the furniture and shelving to allow mobility chairs and room. Assistance is available from staff in needed.

  • The interior space is uncluttered, allowing easy access . The main counter has two heights, and clear signage is provided throughout.
  • A designated children's area offers many activities, including SEND-specific ones, ensuring that all children, regardless of their needs and abilities, are accommodated as much as possible at any event hosted.
  • Similarly, adult events aim to meet the needs of adults with additional needs or disabilities. The space is open plan and flexible, allowing for the rearrangement of furniture to adapt to various needs.
  • One accessible toilet with changing facilities.
  • A large car park is located at the rear, featuring an accessible ramp to the building entrance.

Newton-le-Willows Library

  • Ramp/path at the side of the building with automatic doors for accessible access.
  • No parking availability at this library.
  • There is one accessible toilet, no changing facilities are available other than a baby changing table.
  • The steps on the entrance have a yellow painted strip across and there is a side path entrance with automatic doors, there are no stairs in the library floor space other than the basement which is not in use for members of the public and furniture is spaced out to accommodate mobility chairs, we offer seating around the library and staff are able to assist customers should they require.
  • Outdoors space that leads from the children's area into a small yard, this is also accessible.

  • Automatic front door from the outside and another door always wide open into the library space. Upstairs access is via stairs/lift, if going via a lift, there is a door that needs to be pushed open.
  • Disabled parking availiable but is chargeable.
  • Accessible toilets and baby charging on the ground floor and 1st floor

  • St Helens Bus Station (found on Corporation Street) serves all major bus routes
