Discover Blender with John Gordon

Blender is a powerful, FREE, open-source 3D graphics suite used by artists, animators, game developers, film studios, and even engineers and scientists. It covers the entire 3D pipeline—from modelling and animation to rendering and compositing—giving you everything you need to create stunning visual work.

Blender in Action:

  • Spider-Man: No Way Home - Concept design and pre-visualization
  • Prey - Visual effects and environment design
  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Asset modeling
  • Cyberpunk 2077 - Asset development
  • The Man in the High Castle - Visual effects

 

We're kicking off with In Conversation with John Gordon - Discover Blender Launch Event on:

26th January 5.30pm until 6.45pm

John is a former teacher and passionate Blender enthusiast, loves sharing his knowledge. Check out his work at akri.org. He will do introductory session to explore Blender ahead of our upcoming workshops. Find out what Blender can do and see if it's your next creative adventure!

Then we will continue with groups sessions on:

  • 9th Feb - 5:00 PM to 6:45 PM
  • 23rd Feb - 5:00 PM to 6:45 PM
  • 9th March - 5:00 PM to 6:45 PM
  • 23rd March - 5:00 PM to 6:45 PM

These guided sessions with John will cover:

  • Drawing and sculpting in 3D or 2D
  • Animating characters and objects with movement and emotion
  • Lighting scenes like a photographer or stage designer
  • Building characters with bones and flexible poses
  • Adding effects like smoke, fire, wind, and water
  • Editing video clips and soundtracks in one place
  • Combining layers and effect

This group is perfect for artists and anyone interested in sharing Blender knowledge or learning Blender as a new creative skill.

  • Automatic front door from the outside and another door always wide open into the library space. Upstairs access is via stairs/lift, if going via a lift, there is a door that needs to be pushed open.
  • Disabled parking available but is chargeable.
  • Accessible toilets and baby charging on the ground floor and 1st floor
