Writing 'Heritage' Fiction
An afternoon of History, Creative Writing & Cake

Date Tuesday, 27 May |
Time 1 pm |
Venue Thatto Heath Library |
Tickets Free, places must be booked. |
Join us for an afternoon filled with history and creative writing, where you can connect with fellow creatives over tea and enjoy a slice of Kevin's delicious home-made 'Heritage Cake.'
Part One. Join Archivist Rachel Hart for a journey through the history of Thatto Heath Library, exploring photographs, maps, and plans held by St Helens Archive Service, while uncovering the library's legacy as a Carnegie library. (Did you know there are over 1500 Carnegie libraries worldwide?) Also, we will dip into the story of arguably the most well-known library philanthropist of all time.
Part Two. A creative writing session hosted by Kevin Dyer on how we use heritage to create fiction. (It's like historical fiction, but inspired by place as much as time.) Kevin strongly believes that our environment 'makes us', and his session will encourage us to use or invent locations that create characters and fictional stories.
Funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund.
