About Lucy Byrne

Lucy Byrne founded dot-art in 2006 and has grown it into a unique and multifaceted organisation which occupies a vital position in the Liverpool City Region's cultural infrastructure, offering services to artists that cannot be accessed elsewhere and encouraging everyone, from schoolchildren to business people to the general public, to value, engage with and participate in visual art.

As well as supporting hundreds of local artists to sell their work and develop their careers, dot-art is helping to develop the art market in the city through its own city centre gallery, regular external exhibitions and the annual Liverpool Art Fair; which this year showcased the work of over 200 artists. It delivers around 5000 hours of artist led creative teaching to the general public annually, operates affordable city centre studios spaces and since 2012 dot-art Schools has engaged over 14,000 children and young people across the region; nurturing creative talent, raising ambition and building confidence. In 2021 dot-art launched Art Bytes, a new national scheme for schools, to deliver these impacts across England, and now works with over 100 schools each year.

Public art projects developed and managed by dot-art in partnership with Liverpool City Council, Liverpool BID company and others include the Flower Streets Mural project, The Liverpool Plinth and The Liverpool Wall of Fame at the ACC.

Artists Together

Conversations about...These regular events throughout the year are themed around an idea that is important to artists who attend regularly and hopefully are useful to people who just wish to join us for the one session.

We identify artists with relevant skills or experience on the subject and ask them to be peer-experts alongside someone from a regional organisation to create a rich space where artists can discuss, share and develop their practice.

If you have a suggestion for a theme for a future 'Conversations about...' event, please get in touch with us.
